The Canadore Aboriginal Student Association (CASA) provides student leadership, student advocacy, and representation in an advisory capacity. “I was nervous when I first came to the College. I met people in the student lounge who became my support system and I felt more relaxed.” Kristin Phillips, Southern First Nation Secretariat “I’ve enjoyed meeting new friends from the Cree culture. It makes me feel more at home.” Lorna Moses, Cree Nation of Eastmain

Aboriginal Circle On Education (ACE)

Canadore College’s Framework for Relationships with Aboriginal Nations and Students, and our Aboriginal Program Strategy, have been endorsed by our ACE and approved by the Canadore College Board of Governors to ensure the development of mutually beneficial partnerships. Through the support of our ACE, we have been able to ensure a full range of student support services within the Aboriginal Learning Unit and to support new Aboriginal-specific programs through strong partnerships. Success has been documented through our Aboriginal Student Retention Report, which has shown an ongoing, notable increase in student graduation rates.
